We took the classic shrimp boil out of the pot and made it into a pizza for a slice of Lowcountry culture.
Shrimp Boil Pizza
Ingredients
- 8-INCH
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- ½ cup peeled and deveined large fresh shrimp
- ¼ cup thinly sliced baby red potato (about 1)
- ¼ cup chopped smoked sausage
- ¼ cup fresh corn kernels
- ¼ cup marinated quartered artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
- ½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- Basic Pizza Dough
- ⅔ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese with peppers
- Garnish: fresh thyme

- 1 cup peeled and deveined large fresh shrimp
- ½ cup thinly sliced baby red potato (about 2)
- ½ cup chopped smoked sausage
- ½ cup fresh corn kernels
- ⅓ cup marinated quartered artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning

- 1½ cups peeled and deveined large fresh shrimp
- ¾ cup thinly sliced baby red potato (about 3)
- ¾ cup chopped smoked sausage
- ¾ cup fresh corn kernels
- ½ cup marinated quartered artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
- 1½ teaspoons Old Bay seasoning

- 1⅓ cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese with peppers
- Garnish: fresh thyme
- 14-INCH
- 5 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 2 cups peeled and deveined large fresh shrimp
- 1 cup thinly sliced baby red potato (about 4)
- 1 cup chopped smoked sausage
- 1 cup fresh corn kernels
- ⅔ cup marinated quartered artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
- 2 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning
- Basic Pizza Dough
- 1⅔ cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese with peppers
- Garnish: fresh thyme
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 475°.
- In a cast-iron skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add shrimp, potato, and sausage; cook until shrimp are pink and firm and sausage is lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Stir in corn, artichokes, and Old Bay. Set aside.
- Lightly dust an 8-, 10-, 12-, or 14-inch cast-iron skillet or baking pan with flour. Using floured hands, gently stretch Basic Pizza Dough to cover bottom and press ½ inch up sides of prepared skillet or to edges of prepared pan. Cover and let stand for 10 minutes. Uncover crust.
- Bake for 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle with half of cheese and shrimp mixture, leaving a ½-inch border.
- Bake until crust is lightly browned, about 12 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake until cheese is melted, about 5 minutes more. Garnish with thyme, if desired.
