An Overnight Sensation
Linda didn’t know what to think of all the attention. “People were hunting for me everywhere, but I don’t do Facebook, I don’t do computers, and I don’t do a cell phone, so they couldn’t find me,” she says.
Thanks to Linda’s granddaughter Franki, Mason finally tracked down Linda for an interview, and that was just the beginning of the fandom. By July, Linda had boarded her first-ever flight to New York City to appear on NBC’s TODAY show, and a few months later, she was on NBC’s The Kelly Clarkson Show. Before the year’s end, she was featured on politician Mike Huckabee’s television show and also appeared on morning shows and podcasts, telling the story of her good cooking. “I told Mom and Dad both: ‘Don’t worry about it; it’ll die down in a couple of weeks,’” says Cathy Johnson, Linda’s eldest daughter. “But it didn’t!”
