You love popcorn. You love bacon. Why not put the two together?
Bacon Kettle Popcorn
Makes about 16 cups
Ingredients
- ½ pound bacon, chopped
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
- ½ cup popcorn kernels
- ¼ cup sugar
Instructions
- Place bacon in a large Dutch oven, and heat over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until crisp, about 8 minutes. Remove bacon using a slotted spoon, and let drain on paper towels. Reserve 1⁄4 cup drippings from pan.
- Add bourbon to Dutch oven, and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, scraping browned bits from bottom of pan with a wooden spoon. Add reserved 1⁄4 cup drippings, popcorn kernels, and sugar; cover and shake constantly until kernels begin to pop. Once popping has slowed to every 2 to 3 seconds, remove from heat. Continue shaking until popping has ceased completely. Sprinkle with bacon.
